1969 MGB GT with Overdrive, Factory Wires and original 69 CA Title!

Very nice driving, low mileage, complete and original MGB GT with desireable overdrive!

This is an original California car and does not nor ever has had any sign of rust or been in an accident.
Was in the same family since new and has always been garaged!
Recently had a new brake master cylinder, clutch master and slave cylinder overhaul, two new batteries, some new front suspension bushings, a set of new tires, a new SU fuel pump and is fully serviced ready to drive. All service has been done by Jeff at British Car LA in San Pedro. He knows this car inside and out!

All area’s inside the fenders, front, back and where you expect to find the odd ripple or incorrect hardware are amazingly straight and correct. Even the front valence has not been damaged while being parked, which is so commonly seen.

The original black paint has undergone a recent repaint and although not concour quality, has a nice luster. It has had small chips touched up here and there.

The panels are straight although the hood does have some minor dents in it.

The doors close well and the panel fit is excellent for one of these cars…You can really tell that the 85k miles are original. In fact, the odometer is dead on. I checked the calibration with mileage markers and the tenths and full mile are completely in synch.

Underneath the car is completely rust free and the floors are especially nice. The chrome is very good and as you can see the grille looks original and perfect.

The glass is in good shape, with the side windows showing some small vertical scratches that are very common.

The door locks all work on the single ignition key and there is also a key for the locking gas cap.

The interior is original and in very good condition for its age. There are a few carpet flaws, but I chose not to replace as you can tell…I prefer originality!

The front seats are in nice condition, but the front seat has a slight tear in the entry side bolster.

The headlining is in very nice condition, even the sun visors are still firm.

The dash is in good shape having not cracked like almost all the ones I see, although it does have an area near the light switch that has worn through the outer plastic.

The original trim around the doors is worn in a few places but overall in excellent shape.

The engine starts easily from cold with the choke and pulls smoothly and powerfully, with no unwanted noise or any sign of smoke.

It has good oil pressure and does not overheat. I just took for a 75-85 mph spin over the weekend…no problems whatesover.

The gearbox is not noisy and all synchros work well giving smooth shifting.

The overdrive drops in well and engages well.
The clutch feels good, no sign of slipping.
The original steering wheel is in perfect condition and a pleasure to use.
The brakes feel good, and it pulls up nice and straight without any noise or fuss.
The parking brake works very well and holds the car even on a steep incline.

The suspension feels fine and the rear axle is quiet.

Overall the car drives very well. The engine and transmission have the typical slight oil leaks, nothing major.

Electrically almost everything seems to be working, including all gauges, lights inside and out including panel and High/low beams, wipers – both speeds- heater fan and the hazards (only work on the left side, probably a switch problem as the indicators work just fine).
The Speedo and odometer seem to be accurate and the mileage is correct.

The windshield washers make a sound like a strangled cat but do not produce any water and I can not seem to figure out. We never drive in the rain so it’s not an issue here in So Cal.

The wiring does not seem to have been modified or repaired and is very original and correct.

Even the under dash panels are still fitted and in perfect condition. The right front indicator lens is cracked.

To recap this car turns heads and gets compliments as it is or it could be the basis for a stunning restoration due to its lack of rust, straight body and originality. These GT’s are starting to appreciate now as people begin to realize what a fun, useful, cute little car they are. As always I would recommend driving this car if at all possible!
